Last week the NEWMAN consortium reunited for the Project’s Final Meeting at the Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Bologna, which held the meeting as Professor Alessandro Morri has coordinated the project. The meeting was physically attended by the University of Ghent, the metallic powder manufacturer Höganäs and CRIT technology consulting firm, with the rest of the partners remotely connected due to current restrictions related to the COVID-19 outbreak, including the demonstration partners VICI and CRF.

During the final review, each partner reported the outputs of the different Work Packages they were responsible for. Höganäs illustrated the optimization of the powder metallurgy (PM) process and the heat treatment for prototype production, which was supported by SINTERIS and the University of Bologna for process optimization and material characterization.  The University of Ghent, reported on the life cycle assessment impact demonstrating how the NEWMAN solution drastically reduces climate change indicators.

Project partners VICI and CRF presented the results of their case studies, including the validation activities and simulation during the design phase, mechanical test-benches, and the prospect adoption of PMy, with the use of the Nickel-Free Powders (NFP)  both for the industrial machinery and the automotive sector.

Finally, the “Go to Market” strategy and the Dissemination and IPR management activities were illustrated by the University of Bologna and CRIT followed by a brief discussion among partners building on the work that has been accomplished.

The public project results can be found on the NEWMAN project website.
